Look out baristas, your job may be at risk. A group of scientists at Cornell University have constructed a robot that not only can make any kind of coffee but also steams milk for cappuccinos and the like. In addition, it is also intelligent enough to be able to figure out how to run brand-new coffee makers which it has never encountered or learnt about before. Gizmag, the online tech magazine, reports that the robot barista makes use of deep learning and a 3D electronic camera to figure out the best way to use a piece of equipment. Once it has a plan, it goes through the motions it has to perform to get the coffee job done. The robo-barista already has mastered the best way to operate 3 different kinds of coffee makers but the jury is still out as to who is the better barista, robo-barista or human.
